An introduction to Wireless Internet

The view from the other side...the TECHview.

An increasing number of businesses are taking Wireless internet lines with us. They are enjoying the less than three week installation time, superfast internet speed and the robust and reliable connection. All of which allow them to forget about their infrastructure (because it’s taken care of) and get on with their work.

Questions around reliability are common and understandable. We thought we would ask one of our engineers to give us a quick idea of how reliable the Wireless internet lines really are for our clients so read on to find out more.

How does Wireless Internet work?

“There are A LOT of places Nationwide that hold what are known as POP’s (Point of Presence) – these are Internet connectors that distribute the wireless internet signal to a receiver unit the size of an A4 piece of paper on the outside of the customers building”

How long does a typical Wireless Internet connection take to install from the point the order is made?

“After the client signs off the order we usually see the line in place within 10-14 working days with the line likely to become operational the same day”

Some people think that Wireless Internet will be affected by the brilliant British weather (you know Wind, Rain, Sunshine and Snow all on the same summers day)?

“Even during the worst weather Warrington has thrown at us in recent days/months we have had no reports of issues with connection speed or quality”

So overall seems like a good idea for a business to take Wireless Internet then?

“Feedback from end users is overwhelmingly positive and it’s hugely beneficial to have the line in place within three weeks. It’s a lot quicker than the typical lead time for a traditional wired connection of around 4 months”
